"If you're between styles, this bob gives hair that's a variety of lengths some shape," says Paul. "Ask for a soft, side-parted bob that is longer in the front and graduated in the back. It should also be slightly asymmetrical, and the heavier side should be layered all over so it doesn't feel too block-like." As a general rule, make sure the layers aren't shorter than cheekbone-length. "On textured hair, lots of short pieces can be hard to manage," he says. -

"This is a great cut for straight hair that's thick or thin—it's basically chin-length and asymmetrical with side bangs," says hairstylist Garren of the Garren New York salon. "Ask your stylist to cut long and short choppy layers all over—in the back, sides, and around the face. The back can be the same length as the front or much shorter and choppier, depending on your preference." -

If Edie Sedgwick were to walk the red carpet in 2008, she'd probably have this haircut. To copy it, "ask for a blunt, ear-length cut that tapers slightly in the back," says hairstylist Sally Hershberger of the Sally Hershberger salons in New York City and Los Angeles. "The front and sides are almost completely blunt, but you should ask for subtle layering on the ends to keep it from looking too severe. And the front pieces should be long enough to tuck behind your ears." -

This cut is entirely classic. "This is a very simple, A-line bob that almost anyone can wear," says Babaii. "Ask for a chin-length, mostly blunt cut that is slightly longer and more layered in front, which helps it curve toward the face."-

To copy this sophisticated bob, request a cut that's just above your shoulders in the front and two inches shorter in back. "The left side is longer than the right," says Hershberger. "There are long layers all the way around and throughout her bangs." -
